Well said, Jon. But one danger of this kind of "declinism" is that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. I still think you're not acknowledging the gamble Obama is making with the space program, to develop a viable manned space industry. I don't know whether it's going to work, but I'd rather have an industry than a "program". Time will tell.

"The villain, Big Jim Rennie, is cartoonishly evil." Remember where I live. I can believe this character well. People often follow who/what they fear. Each person with his/her reasons. Most of the reasons are merely forms of weaknesses in their own lives.

My Brilliant Friend,
What a silly, piece of fluff ... To the Trolls with him!
The bridge can never collapse!
This kingdom has always had the finest bridge in all the world, despite a few holes.
If you have cancer or need a new brain, you are much more likely to die AFTER you cross our bridge, than other bridges in the world where you die ON their bridge.
We don't keep tally of those that never need to cross the bridge (because of a healthy lifestyle) and are happy not to ... they don't count!
-- A very angry Minister, "He Lies!"
Jon,
How wonderful to read your writing again and see your ever inventive mind turned to the politics of the day.
How wonderful indeed to see you perusing a dream similar to one I've had. A shadow of a dream, which I still have from time to time.
<a href="http://www.ForeverMemoirs.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.ForeverMemoirs.com</a>
How did you pull it off ... getting started? What is your biggest class of client?
Could I be a clever giraffe in California? With your help?
Joet

Once I got over you calling Yourself an old "fogie" (that meant I was one too )I loved the blog. I agree, sometime all you can do is put it in God's hands. I wish sometimes that we were still that young and thrilled with life. mmmm...maybe not.

Our company, Blue Echo Solutions, provides a solution to the problem described in this article regarding the loose HDMI connection.
hd EZ lock is the only Universal Locking HDMI Adapter on the market. It works with most HDMI Cables and most HDMI Components to both keep your cable from coming loose, and to virtually eliminate stress on your HDMI Input, both which can cause damage to your HDMI Cables or your expensive equipment.
Please visit www.blueechosolutions.com if you're experiencing the problems mentioned above with your HDMI Connection.

I have thought a lot about what life would have been like if Don & Jon's Mother did not make it this month - and both were very real possibilities. Cynthia had a very serious infection and for Don, landing a jet on water at 170 mph is still like hitting cement. If Captain Sully had veered 2 inches left or right while landing in the river or missed and hit land, the plane would have broken apart. You can imagine the outcome and experts at my office said the loss would have been staggering - 98% fatalities in the water and probably 100% on land because of fuel (I sort of knew this anyway - just didn't want to think about it). I think about what Jan 15 could have been like. 2 losses in my family in less than 5 days - I only have a "select few" family members that matter and you know who you are. I sit here thankful for what and who I have and while I am "pensive" about the future, gain strength from the ones that matter - both family & friends. My message tonight (I sound like Obama) is to appreciate and love your "peeps" and be thankful for the things that really, really matter. They are irreplaceable. Trust me.

Jonathan, this is your Aunt Iris--Your "blog" was just perfect. They are IDIOTS for laying off a person like you! Don't you think this is a good time for you to go back to college? Since you are not making any money, you could probably get a free education from the government...

Yes, this has been one hell of a month. A place crash, your Mother's hospitalization and now this. But, in retrospect, no one died (thank God) and we all have pieces to pick-up. Some emotionally (sorry DN - not sure where you are after your event), some physically (Hi Cynthia) and for us it is you finding a job or starting the company you talk about. This is just a hiccup - a bump in the road. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."
